P9 FOR PATRICK IN ‘44. ADAC BARBAROSSAPREIS’NURBURG, AUGUST 27 2012 – Patrick Huisman and his Frikadelli Racing Team finished 9th in last weekend’s eighth round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft 2012 at the famous Nurburgring. After having secured the third grid position in his Porsche GT3 R, Huisman and his teammates Klaus Abbelen en Sabine Schmitz looked set for a podium finish, but technical trouble prevented ‘world’s fastest Frikandel’ to charge for a podium position and instead had to settle for ninth position at the finish.
In the early stages of the race Klaus Abbelen tried hard to keep up with the leading group of drivers, but lost some ground in terms of positions before he handed the steerwheel over to Huisman. The Flying Duychman once again underlined his talent and raw speed by clocking a series of ultrafast lap times including setting the best laptime in lap 16! After having done his share, Sabine Schmitz took over for the third part of the race to strengthen their position, before Patrick took over again to drive the final part of the race. In those closing stages the car showed signs of overheating, so Huisman and Schmitz had to take it a bit easy in order to get to the finish line. By ending the race in ninth position, both Patrick and the team were happy with their joint performance but a little dissapointed as well as things could have been much brighter if the technical trouble would not have arisen..
PATRICK HUSIMAN: [i]“It’s a shame we ran into some problems in the end, But I think all three of us should be satisfied with what we displayed this weekend. We were closer to the front than we have ever been, so things definitely look nice for the remaining rounds!”
